Congratulations! You made it to the final day of the Christmas Declutter. Today we’re tackling linens, hand towels, and holiday themed sheets.

I’ve lived in my current home  for eight years and have plenty of linens and towels to entertain for Christmas. Add to that a December birthday and I seem to always end up with a few new items gifted to me this time of year. These items are only used for a short period of time in my home so they last a long time and require frequent editing.

Gather & Sort

Gather all of your Christmas themed hand towels, table linens, runners, and bedding into one room.Tackle each group separately and sort using the following guide for each one:

  • Toss damaged and stained items
  • Discard old patterns that no longer fit the style of your home
  • Reduce duplicate items and patterns

It’s okay to get rid of items that were gifted to you. If it’s truly sentimental, consider storing it in a keepsake box so it’s not cluttering up your space. Donate items that are still in good condition and dispose of anything that is stained or worn.

Organize & Store

Refold linens, towels, and sheets group the items in a container. I like to store my Christmas towels in a fabric bin. I pull them out once a year and the rest of the time they’re stored out of the way in my linen closet.

Final Thoughts

You’re done! I hope you’ve enjoyed this Christmas declutter.

Remember your home should be a place that brings you a sense of peace and relaxation. If you are holding onto things that make you feel stressed, it’s okay to let them go. If hosting parties and large gatherings just don’t bring you joy anymore, it’s okay to let that go too!

As always, I’m here if you want more help decluttering and organizing in your home.

I’m Melanie Cox, The Tidy Fox. Thanks for spending time with me!
